This wheel thrown stoneware vessel highlights the dramatic beauty of Horsehair Raku.
In Horsehair Raku the pots are not glazed. Instead they are burnished to a high sheen before firing. In the Raku firing the piece is pulled from the kiln at a very high temperature and actual horsehair is placed on the surface .As the hair vaporizes, it dances across the the surface of the pot leaving behind black carbon lines.
Approximately 5”H x 6”D - each piece is signed on the bottom and one of a kind
Horsehair Raku is a purely decorative form of pottery and not meant to hold water or contain food.
